A trade website has one job: to convince someone who has already heard of you that you're the right call, and then make the call easy. In Guelph, most visitors arrive having seen you in the map results or heard your name from a neighbour. They're checking, not browsing. Your site should be built for that.
We build and improve websites as part of your marketing. We are not a contractor; the work we show on your site is your crew's work, and we never claim it as ours.
What a Guelph trade website needs
The answer is shorter than most agencies make it. A customer on a phone, standing in a cold basement or looking at a damp ceiling, wants to know four things fast:
- Do you do this kind of job? Clear service pages, one per main service, in plain language.
- Do you come to my part of the city? A service-area section that names the wards and neighbourhoods you cover, plus nearby townships if you go there.
- Can I trust you? Real photos of real jobs, recent reviews, licence numbers where your trade has them, and how long you've been working locally.
- How do I reach you right now? A phone number, a text option and an email address that are visible on every screen.
If your current site answers all four in under ten seconds on a phone, it's doing its job. Most don't.
Who this is for
- Trades with a site that's slow, dated or impossible to update without calling a developer.
- Businesses whose site doesn't mention Guelph, or mentions it once in the footer.
- Owners who added services over the years but never added pages for them.
- Storefront and showroom businesses, including those inside the Downtown Guelph Business Association area, whose hours, parking and directions are buried or wrong.
- New companies that need a credible site before they spend anything on ads.
What's included
- A content plan before design. We decide the pages and what each one must answer before anyone picks colours.
- Service pages that sell honestly. What the job involves, roughly what it costs, how long it takes and what the customer should expect.
- Local proof. Job photos and short project notes from around Guelph, tagged by area where the customer agrees, so pages carry real local evidence instead of swapped place names.
- Speed and mobile first. Lightweight pages, compressed images and no heavy plugins, so the site loads quickly on a phone on a weak signal.
- Contact everywhere. Call, text and email options on every page, with tracking so you can see which pages produce enquiries.
- Basic search set-up. Titles, descriptions, structured data and a sitemap, all done properly so the local search work has a sound base.
- Training. A short session on how to add photos, update hours and post a new project yourself.
Timeline
Timing depends on the size of the site and how quickly we get your photos and answers. A typical small trade site moves through these steps:
- Week 1: content plan, page list and questions for you.
- Weeks 2–3: writing and design.
- Week 4: your review, revisions and launch checks.
- After launch: redirects from old pages, tracking checked, first month monitored.
Larger sites with many services or locations take longer, and we'll give you a realistic date up front.
How we measure it
- Share of visitors who call, text or email, measured before and after launch.
- Page speed on mobile, tested on real devices.
- Which pages produce enquiries, and which ones visitors leave quickly.
- Organic search visits to service pages over the following months.
Mistakes to avoid
- Stock photos of smiling strangers. Guelph customers can tell. A slightly blurry photo of your actual van outside a real house beats any stock image.
- Hiding the phone number. If it's only on the contact page, you're losing calls.
- One "Services" page for everything. A single page listing twelve services ranks for none of them.
- Losing your old pages. A rebuild without redirects can wipe out years of search history overnight.
- Paying for features you'll never use. Chat bots, pop-ups and booking calendars often slow the site down and distract from the one thing visitors came to do.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a new website, or can you fix the one I have?
Often the existing site can be fixed. If it loads reasonably fast, you can edit it, and it's on a platform you control, we improve it. We suggest a rebuild only when the current site is costing you calls.
Who owns the website and domain?
You do. The domain should be registered in your name, and you keep the content, images and admin access. If we part ways, everything stays with you.
Should our website show prices?
Many Guelph customers appreciate a price range or a starting price, even for work that needs a quote. It saves you from calls with people who were never going to buy, and builds trust with those who do.
Is a website included in your plans?
Elite comes with half off any Trades.Agency website design package, while Enterprise covers a full website design and build at no extra charge. The Growth plan covers marketing on your existing site.
